I'm not just trying to blow smoke up your 'you know what,' but trust me, you are much better off just not working there. If they can't even get interview times right, can you imagine how crazy it would be to work for them? Also, the fact that she completely lacked any type of understanding says a lot about her as a manager. It's better to find out the conditions now, then when you're already working there for a few months - trust me.
I thought of that on Sunday when I cooled down and got my act together.
I wanted to embarrass her just like she embarrassed in front of her customers. I was going to tell her "How do you run this store when you can't even schedule an interview correctly?"
I was close to forcing her to pay for my gas.

Young man all your scenario proved was that job was not for you. If that lady was as unorganized as you say, can you imagine how that office was run? God has a better job for you than that. You showing up early and being prepared shows maturity and responsibility. God hasn't forgotten you young man and he has something way better than that opportunity
That's what I was thinking. I could've really used the $15 an hour though.

Colonative, even at 2yrs old would you not encourage them to still pay it off ? You could not get a good rate for a major purchase with that debt being somewhat fresh !
When going though the background check for my current job I had State taxes that I was in the process of paying off but they (the people doing the background check) questioned me on this and confirmed the payments being made before proceeding further. The taxes owed were from 2003 and I applied for this position in 2005
Depends on the amount owed and the likelyhood that they will default on it again after starting to repay, hence the "delinquency counter" starting over.
I would imagine that an employer would really look at someone's late taxes before they would look at a credit obligation, just my guess; the US Government and each State are the ultimate creditors afterall.

I've been job hunting for the past month or so and submitting an app and my resume wherever I see an opening. Last week, I got a call from Bose and they wanted to schedule an interview with me and the manager asked me if I preferred to come in on Friday or Saturday and I told her that I prefer Saturday. She told me that Saturday was fine abd scheduled the interview at 2 but before ending the call, she told me "see you on Friday at 2then" and I replied "Sorry but I thought we agreed on Saturday at 2" and she said "Oh yeah, that's right, see you on Saturday". I went there on Saturday (2 days ago) and I was there at 1

Meya the reason for the background check is that the job your dealing with either has confidential information that you will have privy to or access to personal financial data and they feel that if your have a poor credit score that your more liable to be a possible threat should things not work out and you can imagine the issues, legal and otherwise should you become a serious detriment to their business.
The Government, depending on your occupation, will make you take mandatory classes about Security, Risk, Confidentiality so your aware of the possible problems you can create by by saying too much, at the wrong time to the wrong people.
Went off on a tangent but all the hiring company has to go by when hiring you is any criminal record and your financial responsibility in the past, hence your credit score

I was really upset because I got my hopes up and thought that this was the job for me. They were going to pay $15 an hour plus benefits if I worked full-time. Also, they're a highly reputable company and the leading manufacture in home theater and car speaker systems. This would've been a great blessing since I'm pursuing a career in music and having a job that could've related to my passion.

1. If you start to pay it off, it will report that it was once bad, but after being denied by Citibank, I was told that if that creditor does not update any baddies in 2 yrs (such as paying it off or the creditor being lazy), then you have a better chance of consideration of others (creditors). This is coming from a prime bank.
2. If you leave it alone, then you will have 7 yrs to go until it falls off, and that goes from the date they originally said it was a charge off, not from when you were late. This is in correspondence to Colo, and yes you did say it correctly.
3. Some creditors will play the "You think you got it made" game with you by not updating the baddie on your report until the 2nd year is up. This is what I am dealing with right now. But it does not make a difference to me because they are bound to leave in Aug anyway.
The only time I will tell someone to let it go is if they have plenty of co's and is close to them falling off. But, it does not necessarily mean that they can not rebuild, it is that they better get ready for the consequences of sub-primed cards. Even with paying off a bad debt, you are more than likely be denied by primed cards, and have to settle with sub-primed. It is just that when you start to pay off after 2 or more years of being in co status, you just gave them lead-way to add an additional 7 years of another baddie, which is (for example) "Was late 120 days" and that is another 7 years added on to your 2 years of charge off. Don't get me wrong, I have heard of people being approved by Amex, US Bank and so on, but no luck have came my way.

I just got my Direct Rewards Discover card today,Im wondering how they are as far as CLI's go?
Thanks
ohwoody
This card is backed by HSBC. I really haven't had any luck with CLIs with HSBC. When I had HSBC cards, I only got one CLI in two years and that was for $100.
