Interesting question but no. Likely had they been continued as they were then it would seem to me they would have maintained their original reporting. In thinking back, I had a Standard Oil card that transitioned into an Amoco card and I had HSBC cards that rolled into Capital One cards. Now the HSBC cards that transitioned into Capital One cards (that are long closed) still do show on my credit reports as Capital One. So, I think it would be lender specific and how they handled the card transition. Oh, I originally had a Providian Bank Visa that transitioned into a Washington Mutual Visa that was taken over by Chase and converted into a Chase Flexible Rewards Visa that was changed to a Chase Freedom Master Card that was transitioned to a Chase Freedom Visa card and the reporting is on my credit report back thirteen years but carries the name Chase in the bureau. Did not lose the history or reporting. Hope this helps!

Nice. Were those cards canceled or rolled into another credit card as those financial institutions were rolled up?

A Texaco Gas Card with a $300 limit followed by a BankAmericard $300 limit and a Northwestern National Bank Southwest MasterCard $1,000 limit. Over time the lenders were absorbed into other financial institutions or ownership transfers.

What was your first credit card? Mine was the Amex blue that I got in college. I still have it to this day.

Spread across the month and I take a card out of use so I can pay it off before statement cutoffs. Leave a balance on one to maximize the FICO Scoring Model. It seems there are other approaches for this too.
