I do not have the urge to create new crdit lines or anything. Because frankly I have alot to prove--mainly that I am able to handle the credit. Right now I am not ready and I know it deep down that in time I will be ready. I got a lot to learn and I am ready to start learning.
Everyone teach me what you can. I am new at this and dont worry I do not want any new credit lines; I do not want a home; I do not want a loan; or even another CLI.My priorities have changed. Besides, I cant afford any of that stuff now.I just want things to improve so that in the distant future if I do need something I will be able to get it or do it without worrying.

I have some questions. How does my car loan help improve my score. I have had it for five months and my scores have not been affected by the car loan. I have paid on time and it is being reported. How long does it take for it to help improve my credit?
Of course, I still have the 9 collections, a 4.5 yr old repo, 16 inquiries and four charge-offs. Trust me I know it will be a long time before it comes up a lot..... just inquiring. I am learning patience is a virtue. Again, no need to be mad about something that I created. It did not get bad overnight and It will not get better overnight.
My scores are 567 EQ/ 521 TU/ 521 EX
THanks everyone for our encouragement

Thanks for your responses. Many moons ago, I had a Providian account that I also burned. I had tried going WaMu when it existed as a bank and before its horrible demise (giggle). The POS who took my call told me that because I had burned my account back in 2001 (when both SOL and reporting fell), I could never have an account. I had since heard that when Chase took over, they were not going to deal with WaMu's CC accounts, butI am a bit unsure if I can get a Chase account in case they kept the Providian portfolio. I suppose maybe if I pucker up, it might be possible.
I think what I'm going to ultimately do is close the Hooters account in a couple of months and take the few point hit for a couple of months. Merricks' just a God-Awful institution to begin with, and I don't like the fact they are the only ones who send me a paper statement. I just hate the fact that I'm going to lose my 700 status on my TU.....but it will be a temporary loss. I closed an HSBC rebuilder earlier this year because they wouldn't play ball on the AF and CLI. They probably thought I was bluffing but I told them I have more than enough credit to eat the loss.
Next year when the bulk of my INQs fall, I will try Citi, Chase and WF. I should get some big dog limits by that time, in spite of what else is going on with legislation and what not.
Thanks.

Hello all,
I have a question. I am pretty sure I am past the rebuilding stage. I have responsibly revolved all the credit I applied for since '07 (even bought some nice earrings from Kay's for my fiance). I have 0 TU INQs, 14 EX inqs and 12 EQ Inqs and my FICOs from TU and EQ are 703 and 691 (respectively).
What I would like is to find a good card that's a TU puller. If it helps, I hail from NJ. The only baddies I have is a chargeoff that's falling off in August and a auto repo falling off in November (of this year, both). My EX "vantagecrap" score is 705 "prime"...
What I would like to do is get a CC with no AF to replace my Hooters card. I have BOA and Barclays (Barnes and Noble and Itunes with a combined total of 1100). But I'm thinking maybe I should wait until the INQs go away. But I'd like to replace the Hooters card before I get hit with the AF.
Any help I can get would be appreciated.
I would really recommend waiting for some of those inquiries to fall off. I do not know of any creditors that use TU as their main pull.

Here you go, just make sure you use the tools on the top page (drop down box) and select transunion. All the cards that members applied for, who creditors used TU, will pop up for you. Good Luck! https://www.financeglobe.com/Finance/credit-card-status.shtmlWhat I would like is to find a good card that's a TU puller.

Hello Everyone!
I have two questions; I know some people have accounts w/ Crown jewelers,I wanted to know if they report to 3 bureaus or just two? I've heard some different things- just want to clarify as i placed my first order last week. Second, I applied for a Capital One card- I got the 7-10 day further review message..(I'm nervous about that one)..Does that happen often? Applied last thursday-I do have a fraud alert on my CR's..thanks to HSBC...geesh
Hello,
I am not a Cap1 user, so I can't answer that one, but for CJ, I can tell you that they take about 60-90 days to report and they only report to TU and EX. They stopped reporting to EQ about 2 years ago (when I started, EQ was already done with them, back in 11/2007).

Does anyone know if you can get this card if you have a past credit history? I have some baddies in the past nothing in the last 3 years. Is this just for people who have never had a credit history. I am in the middle of re-establishing my credit and just want to know. I spoke wit a rep from Citi and e didn't seem to sure, but advised it is only if you have never had a CC before. I still don't feel confident in trying unsecured cards yet.
I would go to BofA's website ( https://preapproved.bankofamerica.com/cc/SelfInquiry.aspxand )to see if you are pre-approved for anything. They might indicate that you would be pre-approved for their secured card. It is a soft inquiry so you don't have anything to lose. If the rep at Citibank stated that it is for people new to credit I wouldn't apply for that one yet.
Also, if you aren't already a member of a credit union do some shopping around to see if you can join one that offers secured credit cards.

I was just denied an unsecured card from them a few months ago for a baddie that is about to drop off in Aug this year. This is a primed bank, and I have a funny feeling they will tell you no because of a baddie reporting within 2 years (if you have one like that). Try the card(s) above then try Bofa secured, I believe you will get a better chance.

Maybe equifax is being slow... we will see next month. i do use the cards every month though. on my one card, every month for the last 8 months transunion and experian say o.k. on payment history every month. equifax says no data for the same 8 months on the same card.
Hmmmm, if you have activity each month then it should be reporting information. You might want to give Equifax a call and find out why that is happening.
