Yeah... they told me I had too many inquiry's and no increase with the Citibank Platinum Slect Mastercard (presently $8KCL). As to your new look...! Getting ready for Halloween..

lmao.....the one thing that gets old is when credit card companies try to ease their way to get you to join something that you absolutely do not need, in my case anyway. as far as my new look and all I am a huge Lord of the Rings fan and grumpy old Gandolf fits me sometimes

I opened my Citibank Dividend card in April and 5 months later like clockwork, the cli link appeared(because i have two account i had to look for it though)which i found normal for the first cli on new accounts.2k cli to 10k cl

What is different now is that instead of showing what you are approved for, you have to call and request an amount and provide income and go from there.I've read where some people have cl's of over 100,000 with Citi cards(income withstanding)

Yeah, I think they are after a certain demographic as well. Although, there have been some pretty fancy WinCo Foods built in my area recently. Hehe.

LOL well you are in the city of Portland right? Pretty much an upscale city all around.

The reason for that is high merchant fees

Yeah, especially Discover and Amex...but usually Visa/MasterCard (and even Discover and Amex) offer lower fees to grocery stores and fast food restaurants so that the merchant can accept the cards....

In this day and age for a company choosing not to accept credit cards is bizarre. Especially with the people (like me) that like to use a reward credit card for miles/cash/points. Although it seems like they are marketing towards a certain demographic that may not have cards.

We used to have Cub Foods here in Denver. I miss them so much. Their produce and meats were excellent and their prices were awesome. Even Cub took cards! To this day I still try to bag my own groceries at the store and they look at me all weird.

Since we're on the topic of retails stores and credit cards, did anyone know WinCo Foods doesn't take credit cards? I learned the hard way. They actually take debit. My guess the reason why is because of frequent fraud they may of endured at some time.

WinCo Foods is a grocery store in the Pacific Northwest. Formerly Cub Foods. The products are quality, it's comparable with a Walmart grocery store (prices, products, etc.). In my opinion, WinCo isn't really cheap anymore — the recession has hit them like the rest of us.

I tend to stay away from retailers that do not accept credit cards. I love shopping at Sam's club, but it annoys me how they only accept Discover and Mastercard. I couldn't imagine a grocery not accepting credit, and it would only be their fault if they get hurt by it.

While Costco accepts Visa & MasterCard Debit, they only accept American Express credit. :shopping:

You guys must be talking about an AMEX cc, never had an issue with the Charge Card at Wal-Mart..........

We were talking about how odd it was that Citibank just increased the limit on my AT&T MasterCard on Monday after decreasing the limit on my Citi Dividend MasterCard in February. I have excellent credit and very little debt so there was really no reason for the CLD on the other account. I was saying the only thing I can think of is that because I have recently been doing a lot of my grocery shopping at Wal-Mart they lowered the credit line. Either that or they are trying to get people to close their cards in a very passive agressive way. It worked; I stopped using it and am now giving Discover my business.

Congratulations on the increase! Some love is better than no love! Sorry to hear of the CLD on the other account.

Thanks. Yeah, odd how they opperate. I have stopped using the Dividend card alltogether and went back to Discover. Citibank would be wise to remember not to bite the hands that feed them.

Well I received a $500 CLI on my Sam's Club account making a total $1900. I also got a increase on Toyota Rewards Visa of $500 making a total of $4100 CL.

I logged into my email and saw "Congratulations on your recent credit line increase" from AT&T Universal MasterCard (Citibank). I thought that was odd, getting an email like that, although I suppose BofA has done that in the past. Anyway, went from $7,800 to $8,850 (what is it with Citibank and the $50 increments?). I am surprised by the increase because I hardly use the account. I have a $400 balance left over from a 0% APR balance transfer. What is even more strange is that in February Citibank LOWERED the limit on my Citibank Dividend MasterCard from $10,800 to $8,100 and I used that card all the time up until recently (I am almost certain that is because I have been shopping at Wal-Mart). Who knows...but it is good to see that the banks are showing (automatic) love after CARD Act.
