I also called CapitalOne today for a CLI. They tried, but got told me that my account was currently not eligible for customer initiated CLI's. I tried this about to weeks ago on another CapitalOne card I have and got the same spiel. I got a letter in the mail from the first request that said the same thing. So in other words, they didn't look at my credit history or even go so far as to do a soft pull.

They did however lower my limit on my Visa to 11%APR for 6 months. :white-flag: I guess you have to take what you can get.

I called Target today about a credit limit increase on an account that I have had with them for 3 years. They told me that they just don't do credit limit increases. I got xferred over to retentions and they refused to increase it citing that they just do not have the option to do that.

The credit limit on this card is $400. My maximum credit limit is with CapitalOne @ $2000. I have a green Amex with no limit.

I couldn't believe that after two years of PIF, they couldn't do anything about the card's limit.

Called my best buy MC through HSBC for a CLI. I was told by the analyst that HSBC placed a freeze on CLI across the board. No cards will receive a CLI, They don't know how long this process will be in effect.

Don't hold your breath.

Should I request a CLI for my credit union Classic Visa with just six months history so far? I noticed they did a soft pull on my report on 8/24 not by my request. If it's a hardpull then heck no!

As long as you're not carrying large balances on your credit card accounts or have opened too many new accounts, then go for it!

I asked for a increase on my College Rewards Visa, from West Coast Bank (Elan Financial services). Denied

I asked for a increase on my College Rewards Visa, from West Coast Bank (Elan Financial services). Denied:

- Length of time accounts have been established
- Ratio of balances to credit limits on revolving accounts is too high
- Too many inquiries last 12 months

My mind said WTF? The only viable reason is too many inquiries. The account is two years old this month... Last month my ratio was 20% (for all accounts) and now is 14% (under 15% raises your score!). Thankfully no hard inquiry was used to this request. :upset:

HSBC has retreated from virtually everything. I am told they will likely start returning to normal by November 2010. Why did it take them so long when everyone else got it done?! I am told their stockholders have not been pleased about their acquistion of Household Finance and the sub-prime that exisits. HSBC is a worldwide global banking organization that wanted to open US markets so they came in through Household FInance and others. Since then it seems they have been inconsistent in their handling of various banking products. I connected with them in 2001. Their handling has been inconsistent. They have had some good products but their methods leave much to be desired including the foreign customer service who has no authority to do anything and you can't understand them!!!

I opened my Citibank Dividend card in April and 5 months later like clockwork, the cli link appeared(because i have two account i had to look for it though)which i found normal for the first cli on new accounts.2k cli to 10k cl

What is different now is that instead of showing what you are approved for, you have to call and request an amount and provide income and go from there.I've read where some people have cl's of over 100,000 with Citi cards(income withstanding)

Congrats on your increase

lmao.....the one thing that gets old is when credit card companies try to ease their way to get you to join something that you absolutely do not need, in my case anyway. as far as my new look and all I am a huge Lord of the Rings fan and grumpy old Gandolf fits me sometimes

Cool...! :innocent: My design is the devil in me... can't help it!
