Just got a notice from Chase in the mail today...
"As part of our ongoing commitment to provide you with the best credit card service possible, we recently reviewed your account and are pleased to let you know that your credit line has been increased to $2,300.
]I can't believe it! [/COLOR]
Chase Freedom from $1,700 (upon approval 12-2009); $2,000 (auto CLI 09-2010), and now it's $2,300 (auto CLI 03-2011),
Do I see a pattern here?
Congrats!!

The strange thing about the increases from Cit was that they were auto increases not requested and also I've read elsewhere that other customers were receiving increases likewise.
Even though I've never had any problems with BOA I still don't like what the CSR explained to me about their credit policies and the third degree they take you through when you do a product change or ask for an cli which is nonsense.
Chase has given me two increases(auto) so far and as far as dealing with their CSR no problems but they sure are aggressively wanting me to open a checking account with them.
Yeah, like I said Citibank auto increased the limit on my AT&T MasterCard a few months after decreasing the Dividend. Go figure...But yes, I have heard about others getting auto CLI's again which is good to see.
I hear you about BofA. I have a healthy fear of them. I would only call them to report the card lost/stolen or to close it. They were just as bad as Amex during the Great Recession in closing accounts or reducing credit lines if you called them. It was like an on-the-spot review if you called them. Other than that, they have been very honest and consistant over the years and they are my best APR's (8.24% variable and 9.9% fixed).
Yeah, Chase isn't the worst. They used to be great before the Bank One merger. I will say that their online customer service is excellent.

Common now... Walmart shoppers are not "...our kind of people..." so I have heard related to American Express. Your identity is matched by where you shop. It is like purchasing a Rolex Watch. You are what you wear and don't forget the book on "Dress For Success". I am surely not suggesting that we need to be snobbish (right).
I think they think of people shopping at Wal-Mart or other discount stores as a risk. I went from going to a Kroger owned grocery store to Wal-Mart. Heck, I am all about saving money especially on paper products, cleaning supplies and laundry soap. That is the only thing I can think of as to why they would have lowered the credit line on that account because they left the other two alone and even increased the limit on one of them later in the year.

That is crazy. They decreased my limit from $10,700 to $8,100 early last year on my Dividend card (as well as jacked the rate from 14.9% to 18.9% and then tried to "upgrade" it to a World MasterCard). I used that sucker for everything, paid it in full and I have excellent credit. A few months later they increased the limit on my AT&T Universal MasterCard even though I rarely use it. I swear they decreased the limit on the Dividend because I started grocery shopping at Wal-Mart but I can't prove it.

I just got off the phone talking with a Cit rep to see if i could get a lower apr for purchases just to see if I could "boom" instant 7.3 offer and "by the way we can increase your credit limit by 2k" I was told. Since october of last year I've received 5 increases on my Platinum Select and 3 on my Dividend card to which the customer service agent told me that Citi is being more aggressive so that consumers will make their card number one. I will soon close my Bank of America card and apply for an Amex card within the next few months.

It is just funny to see how we all have different experiences with the different creditors. I used to love Citibank but no more; I actually have nothing bad to say about BofA (with the exception of an issue in 1/09) and I am lukewarm with Chase. I guess the banks are not big on consistency.

What Amex are you thinking about?
The blue card or cash.

In reviewing your post... will you close the Bank of America after applying for American Express or before? Wondering what the timing effect might be on the CB's (if any)?
I am going to wait until my BOA turns two years old(June) and then apply for an Amex.I will then close my BOA because I am not a fan of FIA services and their credit analyst policies is as lame as a lame duck even though I've never had any problems with them but conversations with their csr's made my decision.

I'm excited to ask for a limit increase on my new Blue Cash in six months. All my other credit cards have either required hard-pulls or were just weird about increases, it will be nice to deal with a normal creditor like American Express for this. Although, I should knock on wood because I've heard stories about amex.
I have not heard anything about them doing a lot of financial reviews since 2008-2009; but you never know. You don't seem like you have anything to hide so you should be good to go. Hopefully they will give you an auto CLI before so you don't even have to ask for one.
