Amy, I think that it's a worth a try and I don't see why anyone would be denied for a secured card since they are putting up their own money to open a credit account. Apply for the card and see what happens, it's worth a try. Have you applied for a Capital One card recently?

I have a question. I had an MBNA credit card over 10 years ago and I included it in my BK in 2001. I know that MBNA was bought out by BofA and I would like to get the secured BofA credit card to help build my credit with a prime bank. Does anyone know if I would be blacklisted because of the default with MBNA? It is not on my credit report anymore, but I didn't know if BofA had any knowledge of any customers who defaulted with MBNA. Also, would I even be able to get a BofA secured card with the BK still showing on my record? I just opened a savings account with them so that I could later apply for the secured card and fund the card directly from my BofA savings account. Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks! :innocent:

Sears does have a lot of promos going on. I used to work at Sears and people with Sears cards would flood in when there is a 'save 10% when you use your Sears card'. The cashiers can make a killing when we would get people to apply. Of course, we would get a little something when we got people to apply, weather they got approved or not.

Was that when it was still Sears National Bank? Mervyn's had a similar program when I worked there (Retailers National Bank). I was a Credit Ambassador (read: opened a lot of accounts) 2nd and 3rd Quarters 1998 :-)

Rob have this card ColoNative, he said that once you apply for the reg/Sears Citibank issued card and don't qualify , the HSBC card is offered. I believe it Sears w/Kmart..., and Discover has another card offered by HSBC(direct merchant w/Discover logo). There is an annual fee on both cards..let me know if you're gonna apply!

Thank you, YoYo. I did see the picture of the MasterCharge with the K Mart next to the Sears. I will not be applying, I was just curious. Thanks for the info.

I do not have an annual fee on either the Solutions MC or The Discover MC. Yoyo is correct that if you are not approved for a Sears card then you will may be offered the HSBC MC. This card works for all the specials Sears runs "when you put it on your Sears card" like zero % financing.

The Direct Rewards is the HSBC card that is offered if you don't qualify for a Discover card.

Lisa, what is a Sears Solutions MasterCard? I was reading the Sears ad this Sunday and I read that the Sears Solutions is issued by HSBC while the Sears Gold MasterCard is Citibank. Anybody know what this Solutions card is and why it exists? Is it a sub prime MasterCard for peeps that don't qualify for the Citi version?

They didn't like me!!! I applied a couple weeks ago and was declined because I haven't used my open cards very much. I have a score of 634 and was approved for a Sears Solutions MC & a Discover MC in the last week. Guess I won't be spending any money at Kohl's for a while!

I thought Kohls had their own bank, I didn't know they were backed by Chase. I have had the card for about 3 years. Though I have had my situations with Chase Bank, haven't had any problems with my Kohls card

Yeah, about a year ago or so they sold their portfolio to Chase. So did Pier 1. Remember though, even though Chase is their backer, it is still Kohl's people working and providing service on the account.

Kohl's is backed by Chase Bank USA, National Associations with offices in Wilmington, DE.

Something being offered by Chase Bank, I would think twice unless I had the type of credit they are looking for

I'm trying to find out who issues the CC for Kohl's and what cb they pull? Thanks in advance

Chase, and they pull Experian here in NY.

They are very lenient and you have a good chance if you are higher than 580.
