I wonder whats the status of the card since they have declared bankruptcy????? Will they continue to accept the card or will it be dissolved as part of the bankruptcy???
They filed Chapter 11 (reorganization) which allows them to stay open during the bankruptcy. They have closed a lot of stores but many are still open and the card is still accepted.
If they do end up going out of business, my guess is that Chase will just turn it into a regular Chase Visa.

thanks for the advice! I will follow through then. i have about a 250 balance on one card and about 450 on another. I will set up auto payments and sock them for a few months. I'll just use my debit card for now and relax
That is a great idea-cash is king.

what if there is a balance on the cards? would it still be considered inactive?
If there is an ongoing balance then yes, it would be considered active. Inactive means that the card has gone a year or more with no activity. That is something we should all try to avoid especially in this economy because card issuers will go in and close it per their request which could look bad on your bureau.
I have found that using each of my cards for something small every 6 months works well for me. I did let my First National Bank of Omaha Visa become inactive and they reissue declined me (when my card expired they did not send a new one) but I called them and had it reactivated.

I have a question. Could putting a CC account on automatic payment every month keep the card active or would I have to charge something every month to keep it active. Im thinking about just makiing a purchase on my cards and put it on auto and sock them. What you guys think?
Simply adding an autopayment with no balance will not keep it active. The best thing to do is to rotate your cards on a 3 or 6 month rotation. Buy something small on all of your cards and then pay them off and back to the sock drawer it goes.
I would also advise against the autopayment on a card you do not use frequently because you could forget and then become overdrawn on your checking account.
