Actually, I only pay $48 a year. This one of my "sock-drawer" cards so to speak. I have not used it on purchases but is a last resort. I have cards that are much better now that my credit has improved but with this card being one of my first, I dont want to close it and possibly get a hit on my CR.
If you close this account when it's pif, it will report for 10 years after it is closed as a positive TL. You will be able to keep your account "age" history. I luckily had a cap 1 that was pif and closed in 2004 (by grantor) but it helps my age of accounts (it was openend in 98). It was probably the only thing that had my fico score in the high 500's when I started to rebuild. If it weren't for that card I'm pretty sure my scores would have really been in the toilet. Save yourself the AF and close this card, it's not doing anything for you.
There is a very good thread on closing accounts the right way on the myfico boards if you need more info. (I hope it's okay to mention that board here, if not, off with me head:fun:)

The lady was heck of cool, we was chopping it up on the phone and then she turned around and tried to give me a higher limit but unfortunately she couldn't:worried:. Oh well this work just good for me, now I am at $3500 with them wahooooo!

I had this card for a year. When it expired last December I closed the account. I got one lousy $25 increase and tons of fees just like First Premier. Cireone, have you thought about a secured card? Since you going to put out $200 or $300 a year for Total Visa, you could get a secured card and in around a year get your money back and the card would be unsecured. There are a lot of posts on here about Bank of America, Well Fargo, and others that would be better than just throwing your money away on the Total visa and their like.Ive had a Total Visa for almost two years. I never was late made payments on time. SO I was going through the terms & conditions and it said that they will not charge for a CLI and that it had to be requested after the 6th month of good history with them and could be requested every 3 months thereafter. I called to request for one. THe wait was long but the rep was nice and sonded like an engish is a first-language speaker. She informed me that I am eligible to get one but that the computer genreates what increase it will be. Unforunately its a Saturday and the department that does the increases is closed so Ill have to wait till tuesday to see where it will be. She notified me that normally its a $25 increase but since I never requested for one and the account is pretty much aged I may have a chance of getting much more $25 increase, but she is not sure of it. So Ill be keeping you posted on what the outcome is.

My 3mths is up in Sept and i will definitely be calling for an increase. I can't believe that I have had the card over 10yrs and only 1 time before June had I ever asked for an increase.
I'm hoping that I get a nice bump on both of my Macy's.

Hi Shark 6, my last increase was March 6th 2008! I could have sworn that I received one like 3 months ago myself. I had to go back on this thread to see when I received my last increase:laugh:Congrats Meya! When was your last increase before this one, if I may ask? My last increase was June and I am anxiously waiting for the 3mths to pass before I call again.

Macys gave me a bump from 300 to 600 and i did not even ask for it
i only had the card for 2 months, i used it one time to get some 80 dollar shoes(i know what you are thinking "damm he is cheap" and payed it back in 2 weeks.
so i guess thats a good thing or maybe they dont like to see the card go unused and want me to charge something.
