Oops, spoke to soon...................................
I would personally like to thank you for being a loyal MyPoints member and I would like to share with you changes to the MyPoints Rewards credit card program.
Our credit card provider, Washington Mutual (WAMU) became a casualty of the financial turmoil that occurred in 2008, and certain of its assets were purchased and liabilities were assumed recently by JPMorgan Chase Bank (Chase) from the FDIC, acting as liquidator of WAMU. As a result we expect that all WAMU credit cards including your MyPoints Rewards credit card will be discontinued. Nevertheless, your MyPoints Rewards credit card will continue to earn Points until February 14, 2009. These Points will accrue in your MyPoints account and can be used for great redemption options as usual.
However, we wanted to alert you that in the coming days you may receive a letter from Chase Card Services advising you that your MyPoints Rewards credit card is being converted into the Chase credit card program. The Chase program is not one that is sponsored by or associated with MyPoints and more importantly, will not provide you the point-earning opportunities you have come to expect as being a member of MyPoints.
At MyPoints, we know you value your MyPoints Rewards credit card. That's why we're working quickly to develop a new and better replacement card. You'll receive more information about the new card soon. If you have questions about MyPoints Points earned from using the card please send an inquiry through MyPoints Member Services at This email address is being protected from spambots. I know Citibank has similar restrictions for their checking accounts. WaMu was just really great because checks can be expensive, they gave them away for free. They did say "free checks for life" so I wonder if Chase has to honor that for existing members.
They should honor that promise after buying WaMu for pennies per share.

Or direct deposit.
Chase is not the only one doing this.
Well accoring to the literature that Chase has been giving WaMu customers, things will still be the same, just a slight change in terms and name. Then again, thats the whole reason why I didnt get a chacking account with them. I hope it doesnt change. I only know of US Bank not having a minimum but chaks are at 20 something dollars an order. Lets just keep our fingers crossed.

I seriously doubt it, ColoNative. They're getting rid of the free fico that came along with having a Wamu credit card, but maybe they will.
Very true. This economy is terrible; and these banks keep eating each other up limiting our options.

Does anybody know what will happen to the WaMu checking accounts? WaMu checking was awesome, it was totally free, they even gave you free checks. Chase has terrible checking, you have to maintain a certain amount or have at least 5 debit card transactions per cycle to keep it free.

Actually, I am thinking of upgrading to the Chase Freedom since the only type of rewards I like is cashback. As soon as I redeem my WorldPoints for cash back, I am going to convert my BOA WorldPoints Visa to the BOA Cash Rewards Mastercard.

I received my letter today saying that my account number will be the same. I've heard that they are going to convert WaMu cards to Chase cards and then you can upgrade the Chase card to the card of your choice.
The Chase Freedom looks like a nice offer. I guess it just depends on what the APR is.

I still haven't received a letter from Chase regarding the future of my account and I'm starting to get a little nervous.
Maybe you should call up Chase and ask. It never hurts to find out if it is being converted and what card are you getting.
