1st Stmt 05/13/08 - Bal 09/01/08 - Requested CLI - Declined (reason (1): need 4 month pymt history)
5th Stmt 09/13/08 - Bal 10/05/05 - Requested CLI - Declined (reasons (4): avg % of CL used on acct over most recent 3 months; current bal as a % of the max bal over the last 6 months; # of payments in the last 3 months; current bal as a % of current CL (even tho my pymt of $98 already posted to show 0 bal)
6th Stmt 10/13/08 - Bal 10/14/08 - Requested CLI - Approved to $1500!!!!!!!!!!!!

I paid minimum payments because I knew that I was not going back to make a purchase and I just wanted to show them that I can make payments on time and then PIF. The CLI Request were not hard pulls.

It worked! Went from $300 to $1500!!!!!! Hope it helps!

PS/I wish Wal-mart was this easy!

Called Cap1 yesterday...asked for a CLI,...yeh I got one $500, now CL is $1000. My 3rd statement did not even generate yet. The lady said I kept my account is good status and they like customers like me. I wanted to say I only had ya for two months...oh well I'll take it!. I know I'll get the credit steps increase in about 6 weeks!!!
Now my AU/ Cap 1 $300 5/8 , $600 8/08 $1100.00 9/08

Very cool, you're credit steps will kick in and you'll get a very nice bump in your cl as well. A lot of people have had luck calling before the credit steps kick in for an extra cli.
I bet it feels nice to see all of your hard work start paying off. CONGRATS!

Hey everyone called Macy's and got a 100.00 credit increase. I don't use the card that much, but was told to use it every month and i should see bigger increases. Congrats on the Hooters increase sis next month should be mine got my fingers crossed.

Just tried Walmart online and they offered me another measly $100. Well of course I took it, just call me the $100-200 cli lady....lol.

I guess that's the only upside to how they work, easier approvals.

The only thing I see GEMB doing good in cli's is Chevron and Jcpenny's. They suck everywhere else in my wallet. But I do thank them for the approvals they gave me:laugh:

I don't understand why retailers such as Walmart, Lowe's, Dilliards and the others choose GEMB to provide their credit cards. GEMB is not CLI-generous lender and stores like Walmart, Lowe's, Dilliard's, Banana Republic all have high priced items. How are you going to offer special financing on those items when most of your cardholders don't have a limit high enough to buy that certain large ticket item. They need to take their credit cards ideas and give it to HSBC Retail Services. I have two cards through them and one of them is the Best Buy store card and Guitar Center store card is the other. Even though they grant CLI's every 6 months, they give decent CLI's and nice initial CL's to start you off with.

Got 3 CLIs this week for total of $550.

Eh WTF is wrong with GEMB and Walmart Cards, youd figure they be at least somewhat generous, like if you want a Laptop or a TV how in the world are you gonna get the Special Interest of 0% for x amount of days or months if you cant get a high CLI or CL.

Got 3 CLIs this week for total of $550. Wal-mart bleh, only $50 but I haven't used the card since I got it, been 6 months. Which reminds me, I better use it once before it gets hacked by the company

I just shredded some yesterday. I receive so many of these checks and car loan offers in the mail.

When I called a few days ago to request a CLI thats what the rep said. She and he (seperate occasions) told me that it takes 6 mo since the last request to potentially have an offer.
