As I always say, HSBC is only good for getting other cards, not CLI's.

Ive had my BestBuy RewardZone Mastercard for about two years already. Ive asked for a CLI and was denied in the past. Well today i just happened to look at my account online and wondered why my available credit hasnt changed since I used it recently. Well, CLI-stingy HSBC decided to be nice to me and gave me a measly $20 CLI. Its not the greatest but right now any increase is good news for me, especially after AmEx cut mine for the second time. So now my CL is at $320, WOW, YAY............................
Wish they could do something with my OrchardBank as ive hasd that the longest.

Charonh, how much of your monthly income do you use to pay off your credit cards? Most consumers have a plan where they make a certain amount of money every month. They pay their rent, car payment, utilities, etc and decide how much money they want to use to pay their credit card down. Let's say you owe about $3,000 on all of your cards combined. If you can put away $500 every month to pay your credit card debt off, you would be debt free in about 6 months, maybe 7 months due to the interest charges on your balances.

I agree with hjm331 that our main priority right now should be to pay down our cards due to the current banking conditions. RivasGlo I was like you too in that I didn't too much worry if I got close to my limits, because I knew that I would be paying them off, but now I just don't know and I'd rather not be on the receiving end of a credit line decrease or rate jack, because I would take it personally. You just can't gauge these credit card companies or banks these days. They are operating without any rhyme or reason and that really scares me, since right now I am kinda dependent on them . My goal by the end of next year is to be totally independent.

RivasGlo, your top priority right now has to be paying off your cards. You never know what tomorrow has in store for you.

I have had super high utilization and caused a big drop in my scores from 660's to 610's! Ya I know crazy huh! But my score is steadily goin back up now in 625 and I hope it keeps goin up because I cannot afford any CLD or being ratejacked! I have have 9 cc's and 3 w/ zero balance and other at around 60% or less.
Sooo glad no one has done that to me YET. I hope they dont. I would b so mad because I know it would b because of the high util. If anyone would do it I think Chase would be the first but I dont think they want to ruin my relationship w/ them. ID CRY!
I use to not worry about running up a card because I have the means to pay it off in a timely manner, plus not like im applying for credit or buying a car or home... Now im scared to cause they can CLD you or RATEJACK U! This sucks! :
