Received steps to $750 CL and never another increase with all three telephone calls being denied for bankruptcy by Capital One. Try this the BK was 09/2001 and my record is and has been spotless since then... Capital One is not impressing me. It is ok as I have the big names and decent credit lines now. Keep the small credit line for ordering online.

What is the first credit increase while on the credits steps?

From my experience, they've given me $500 CLI on top of a $500 CL. I've also heard that consumers with a $300 CL usually receive an increase to $750.

What is the first credit increase while on the credits steps? I was told by a rep the other day that it is $750 added to what you got to start.I talked to someone else & was told it was $750 total, including what you started with. Also, after the credit steps, when is the next CLI & roughly how much is it?

CapOne is def acting very unlike themselves these days. But seriously what CC companies aren't? Same thing happend to me when I called for an increase earlier this month, they said I had stellar payment history but she couldnt do anything on my account right now (since I got an increase in Dec). I will try calling back next month and see if I cant get a different reply this time....

Just to clarify, I received the same purchase checks from Capital One. Three days later I received a letter from Capital One:

" ON April 1, 2009, you were mailed a balance transfer offer for the above referenced account. Unfortunately the offer contained an error. The offer included red and blue checks. The offer with respect to the blue checks was incorrect and should have stated a 0% APR for six months. After six months, this balance will be subject to the same rate applied to your purchases.

Please do not use the blue checks that come with this offer as they are now invalid. If you have already used these blue checks, or have already responded to the offer, please call our customer service representatives at [redacted].
"

The letter continued to say how one could take advantage of the 0% for six months.

This posting was not made to insult others, but to give a warning about what Capital One did to me. If necessary, I can upload a scan of the document.

You will soon be getting a letter stating that that offer is incorrect and that it is supposed to be for 6mos.

man, screw capital one. i went for a cli and this was their "reason" for their denial:

"A credit limit increase on your account is currently not available upon request in order to review account activity at assigned credit limits."

seriously, what does that mean? that's not even a reason. why is it not available?

the worst part of it is that i just got mailed a 0% for life check for a 3%/$50 fee. i can't take big advantage of it because my credit line is so crappy.

Kock on wood, but the only one to raise my apr is Chase which took over the WaMu credit cards. Cap1 hasnt changed anything other than they discontinued CLIs on my accounts.

Cap1 is definitely not acting themsleves. Now on my accounts they state that they are not under the CLI program. WTF???!!!!! I received nice CLIs the past year and now my accounts are no longer eligible for CLIs.

I think when the economy gets better then you will see CLI's again. Cap one raised my interest rate to 21 percent from 11 percent recently. Never been late on them or anything. I guess they did it to half of thier card holders. I still think they need to be hangin' the big fat cats and not the little guy.

I think Capital One has stopped doing CLI requests. I was able to get one on one of my other accounts after it had been 6 months, but now when I try on my other account, the Backdoor account manager tells me he would have to do a soft pull of my credit report. I told him no, and I will wait and see. It has been six months, so I think they are cutting back on CLIs.

Capital One isn't giving out too many CLI's because of the tight economy right now. Some people are even seeing CLD's with capital one. Not me personally but I have heard from others that it's happening. By the way a soft pull doesn't hurt your credit score. It's a hard pull that you have to worry about.
