You can cancel and edit payments on-line through the pending payments tab. Just click on payments then click on manage payments and it will list your recent payments.

Irecently made an online payment with Cap1 and when I checked it again, it stated that two payments were made. The latter payment for $2.42. So it raised a red flag. Did they take extra out of my account???? I called customer service and they stated it was Cap1 that paid me but were of no significant help in determining the cause. So then I call the backdoor number and the senior account specialist said it was a credit from Cap1 but did not have a reason a to why it was given back. She stated it was done on our part and that it will stay that way. Has anyone encountered that???????

My sister did that, you have to be very careful with the submit button, it is blazing fast. That is what she did, she accidently pressed it twice so it took two payments out. She called customer service and they cancelled one.

Nope, I know I haven't. Keep an eye on your checking account and Capital One account to see how much they withdraw from your account.

I had a rough time with Capital One at first too, this was in 1998 before credit steps mind you. Just give them time, they really are a great bank to do business with. The economy is so bad right now that all the banks are acting strage compared to the last few years.

Canadians are good people, I have nothing against them at all just interesting how their credit cards work. It's like a time warp to the mid 80's.

colo: i agree with you. canadian cards are much more insane and less rewarding and we are in general super conservative.

i was expressing frustration about my experiences with cap1, and joy over how my canadian bank (which is conservative) gave an auto CLI despite some baddies.

btw, no harm done with your comments. after all, why else would i move over to the other side :)

fwiw, i'm originally from canada where they are a lot friendlier with credit cards.
- they (my card at least) deny any transactions that put you over the limit. cap1 let me over and then hit me with a fee. i had to call them to explicitly do such denials, and i did the same when i got my chase card. (discover has the best over-the-limit policy i've ever heard to be told in the discover thread)
- i was a lazy and didn't pay a $20 charge for a few months (student card, maybe they were more forgiving). i did pay it off when they froze my card. maybe less than 2 years later, i got a auto-CLI from $500 to $2000.
i also hate capital one's "we're a conservative lender" junk. discover is too supposedly and they gave me a reasonable limit.

Canadian banks are friendlier? Really? American's are really spoiled with our cards. I looked at some of those Canadian banks (Citi Canada, MBNA Canada, RBC, BMO) and they have some really high annual fees, gold cards are still the top choice; and 16.9% APR is considered a good rate. It is like the Canadian credit cards are where we were in the 80's. And I am not attacking Canadians at all when I say that, I just thought they were more conservative.

Capital One has become conservative for sure, but it has kept them out of trouble. Just remember with the economy the way it is, we should be lucky if none of these issuers decrease our credit lines.

I actually tried combining my BOA AMEX with my BOA Visa but they said that they don't combine cards anymore and the minimum CL on a card is $500. I had a $1.5k CL on my AMEX so I transferred that $1k to my Visa and closed it. Now, my BOA Visa has a $4.5k CL and I'm lovin it because I'm using it very heavily and expect to see an increase in June when my account turns two years old. I will ask for a CL of $6k but I'm sure they'll give me more. Last month, I spent about $3k and this month I've spent about $2.5k and my current balance is approx. $450.

WHAT???? You closed the BofA Amex??? :dumbfounded:

yeah, it's pretty hard to get stuff from capital one. i screwed up with their credit steps and they never gave me any auto CLI even after i got my act together and had an almost perfect payment history (never more than 15 days late + only because of my poor execution). it kind of bugs me how i always hear about their CLIs but i never get any.

the only way i got a CLI was through forum backdoor numbers and telling them about my new freedom card and how unhappy i was about the lack of CLI, lack of rewards and high interest rate. i got 300 immediately :) if it weren't for the account age and the lack of forex fees, i'd ditch this card.

How about those BofA's? Have you had any auto CLI's from them yet?

I am about to hit them up for an increase very soon

make sure 6 months has past since your last successful increase. i got an instant denial since i requested one short of the 6 month mark. my last increase was in the end of july 08.

Thank you for your recent request to increase your credit limit. We regret that we cannot approve the requested change. The reason(s) for our decistion are as follows]
[*]Present credit limit on current account has not been maintained for at least six months
[/LIST]

if there is any potential consolation, i might not have taken a hard inquiry hit on my credit report because c1 should know when i last requested one.

i'll definitely hit them up for one in may when i use up all the purchase checks they gave me (that i parked in a savings account).

So I took the chance today before I went back to work and all I heard was the same drama....."Give it at least till the end of Jan 09!" What do you mean the end of Jan 09? You use to give it to me when I asked for it. Ok, I love my cap one, but after Feb 09, day one, I am starting to think something fishy of them

The economy is my guess.
