Capital One Credit Limits

I think Capital One has stopped doing CLI requests. I was able to get one on one of my other accounts after it had been 6 months, but now when I try on my other account, the Backdoor account manager tells me he would have to do a soft pull of my credit report. I told him no, and I will wait and see. It has been six months, so I think they are cutting back on CLIs.

No, they added my limits together and kept one card. I called their back door number which you can find somewhere in this forum. I don't know what the number is but you can find it from previous discussions we've had.

Also, I didn't have to fill out any forms.

hjm331 - When you combined your two cards did they decrease any of your credit limits or did they add them both together? Also, What number did you call and did you have to fill out a form or they did it for you over the phone?

Thanks in advance!

They used to give me $500 CLI's every 6 months like clock work but now they deny me and send me a letter talking about how I haven't maintained my current CL for at least 6 months so I don't bother calling anymore.

Speaking of Cap1 giving CLIs a week ago I tried to get an increase on both of my accounts. On one of them it stated that my current program isnot eligible for customer requested CLIs,and on the other it gave the whole story of "did not meet credit criteria for an increase. I found it odd because I have never seen this before from Cap1. I have received increases from them everytime I asked and also auto increases too. But now they have excuses for not giving them. Have they tightened down without letting us know???????

Try calling in and ask for a request even though Capital One hasn't been giving a lot of CLI's lately. It would be a good idea combining this card with your other card and keeping the one that was opened in 2006 because of the longer history.

Does anyone know if i am able to get a CLI for about $300-$500 for my cap1 card? I have just recieved the card today and i was gonna use this card for a balance transfer but my CL is only $1000. Has anyone ever tried to request a increase while activating the card?

Also if i get denied would it be a good idea to combine my 2 cap1 cards together? I have another cap1 card with a $500 CL which i had since 2006 and it currently has $0 balance. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I think cap1 moves fast on higher payments. I was always able to edit or modify a pending payment til one day I sent them $1500 (I believe) and I thought about taking some back to give it to JcPenny's or Hooter's and before I was able to go back to the page, it was in the scheduled status and could not be modified. I feel out laughing at them. I was like, "What if that was all I had or made a mistake. You can't ask for something back that you owe them. I was not mad, but it was real funny to me because they wanted their ends   .

Yea, their system does move pretty fast (with payments) but I have made a couple of wrong clicks and I've had no problems changing/cancelling them online
