Hey all, I called and spoke to a rep at cap 1 she said my credit line is $300. I am going to close my HSBC Discover has the same credit line and they will not budge on a CLI. Maybe I will have better luck with cap 1.
In two years with HSBC, I only got a $200 CLI. You will probably be put on the credit steps program with cap1. You will receive info about credit steps in the mail after you get the card. If you are really curious just call the CS.

I applied for a capital one last night and was approved, but I don't know what the credit line is yet they said I would get the card in 7-10 days. Hope they are still doing the credit steps thing.
I think with cap1 that if you click the check app status link, it will tell you. But you can always call CS to find out.

I looked into applying for a Capital One card but it keeps telling me that the product/offer is not available in my area (California). Darn.
Question: I were to walk into a bank that I have accounts with, what are the chances of them approving a credit card account for me?
Also, what would be the benefits of having the utility bills in your name?

Hello Meya. Thanks for responding. Well, i also have a chargeooff in 2005 for $1100. If I paid the $89, would that start my 7 years all over again from the date i've paid? Also, I have a bofa secured credit card for 5 months now and I'm afraid when its time for it to graduate they will look at the collection that was updated on 03.13.09 and think that it was recent and not graduate me. Thanks alot for the help
I just read today about paying a charged off account and how it could restart the collections process. I would contact the company that holds that $89 (for real? :) balance and ask them if they would agree to delete that trade line if you paid in full. If they agree, make sure you have it in writing. That would eliminate the worry of the collections re-starting.

You got that right, I have been baring with mines for over 5 years now. I am not looking for a change until sometime next year.....lol
Now I have a question! I went to Macy's the other day to see how much my "Shhh, it's a secret" gift card was worth. You know the ones where you have to go into the store, and the cashier will tell you how much it is worth? Well anyway, I saw some nice tops on clearance and the little new Hydraulics jeans that just came in. Well I got to anxious and went to get my card scanned and it was only worth $10, plus I had the 20% + additional 15% if you use your card. The receipt came back that I am a platinum star card holder, but I only have the red card on me. I never seen the gold card, let alone platinum. OF course I am going to call them in a little while, but I was just curious because I have been receiving more benefits and exclusive offers than I used to, but shouldn't a card follow?
Meya, if you spent over $1,000 1/08-12/08 then you were upgraded. It does take them a while to get the new card sent but it will be valid for a year. Strange thing is that I received my new Gold Star Rewards card about three weeks ago. You might want to call them and see what is up. It sounds like you should have already received the new card.

Thanks alot for the helpHi Billy, OK let me see if I have read this correctly, are you saying that your credit report have the first date of charge off as of 3/13/09? Or was the first charge off date back in 2006? If it was applied as of 3/13/2009 then it will be considered as a charge off on your report until 3/13/2016. If it was updated as of 3/13/2009 but has the charge off as of 2006, then it will fall off of your Cr 2013. For $89, I would just pay it because it is too small and creditors will be afraid to give you a limit of $200 if they see you did not pay the $89. Is this the only negative item on your report?

That is the way it used to be honey, creditors are holding back on cli's with people that are spending well and paying well. Yes you are correct, HSBC us just stingy. I have heard of some getting cli's from them, and i have heard of some getting none in over a year. I am one of htem...lol. Cireone is a prime example of the embarrassing cli's that they have been giving people, I would just not trip off of them and just keep it for rebuilding, Cap1 is the way to go right about now, and I have noticed that they are slowing down with cli's, but they are still better than Orchard (or HSBC period).
Well said Meya. Just remember that credit building/rebuilding takes time, ie. years. You can do it, but just remember, in baby steps.

I have a question regarding an Orchards MC CL $300, applied 06/2007 (still at $300). This is sorta my first cc and, therefore, I haven't used it much (new to credit). Do you need to use a card periodically in order for a company to increase the CL? Or is it just Orchard/HSBC being stingy with CLI?

In general, CC cos want to see aggressive charging and payoff. Orchard Bank (HSBC) does not like to give CLI at all. I started out with HSBC and I have canceled all of them. Keep Orchard for a while and maybe apply for a Cap1. Don't apply for many cards. Then next year, you should be able to get a Bank of America card. I have played this game. I had 3 HSBC accts, all of which are closed...then capital one...then BofA and Chase.....then Discover...then (please don't trash talk me, I couldn't resist applying) Amex. BTW: in Two Years, I got a $100 CLI. In 6 mos with Cap1, I got 1K.
