I was under the impression that this site and its forum is for US consumers. And if Kiejon resides in the US as his profile states, I am confused and concerned that he is receiving offers for a Candian bankcard. I would assume that the offer would be requesting his Provence and Social Insurance Number as well......

AMEX is and always has been a prime lender. Therefore, you're going to need more than one credit card to get your foot into the door with them. The Capital One card is definitely a good deal. I'm assuming that the promo rate applies to both purchases and balance transfers. You rarely see that offer nowadays. In my opinion, it's definitely worth applying for it because you will need a second revolving account sooner or later and sooner is better than later.
Thanks Hjm331!
I applied and got a $1,000 limit. Also they said it will raise by $500 after 3-6 months of on-time payments, etc. I'll post a review once I receive the card. Also I'm not sure about the balance transfer rate, but currently I don't need any balance transfers. I'm planning on using the card for items for my new apartment soon.

Thanks to smcc's suggestion of calling the Customer Service, I have good news to share. =)
I searched through the forum for a Chase backdoor # & saw that they have a # for Application Status. So I called the number and got automatic voice messages... after pressing all the numbers in the menu to get to my application status, I heard the recorded voice response that went something like this]Bank of America Student Platinum Visa = $800 CL (applied and approved in the bank last July 2008)
JC Penney CC = $700 CL (applied in-store and approved instantly on Dec 26 2009) will receive actual card in 7-10 business days
Walmart CC = $400 CL (applied in-store and approved instantly on Dec 27 2009) will receive actual card in 7-10 business days
Capital One Platinum MasterCard = unknown CL -scared to call and ask
Chase Freedom (I don't know if it's Visa/Mastercard) = $1700 CL (got a Pre-Approved offer from the ATM, tapped "yes" from the screen accidentally, called to find out application status, approved accdg to the automated voice message, Dec 31 2009) will receive actual card within 7-10 business days
whew! i think I've become addicted to credit card shopping/application since I discovered and joined this site!
hjm331, Meya, Kiejon9, Wanderer & smcc. I've always been scared of applying for credit but since I encountered all the posts, reviews and other articles in this website/forum, my life has changed... ;p
cheers!
Happy New Year everybody!!!

How long have you been a customer with Chase ? Your credit might not be "excellent" but I am assuming you have a great relationship with them, i.e., all accounts are current with no late payments, no overdrafts, etc.. If you truly don't want the card, call Customer Service and let them know your of your change of mind As far as the hard hit already being performed, you could be too late but Customer Service will be able to let you know.........
I've been a WaMu customer since 2005, then it became Chase. Before I had a lot of accounts at WaMu (Checking, Savings, CDs, Money Market), but I've been closing them one by one when the interest rates began dropping, but I left my Free Checking Account because I liked the perks (free checkbooks for life, no minimum balance required), then WaMu became Chase.
