Hey everyone, happy new year. I have a couple questions. I just bought a new house and need to get some appliances. I am trying to determine the best place to get credit, Sears, home depot and Lowes, or GECAF. Can anyone tell me which is best and will give credit to someone in the 700 range of scores?? Thanks for all your help guys.
Hi Kalel, congratulations on your home purchase. A 700 range is a great score so you shouldn't have any problems obtaining credit anywhere. What you want to look at more is the deals that the stores offer. I am all about supporting Sears personally; however, I would go with who is offering a better 0% APR deal and for who is offering the lowest price. If Lowes is offering 0% APR financing for lets say 24 months and Sears is only offering it for 12 months, then Lowes might be the better choice. Also, you need to look at price. If you are looking for an LG side-by-side fridge and it is sold at Sears Lowes or Best Buy, you want to see who has the better deal.
Also, in todays environment, you could also shop for the best price and take that price to the competitor that has the better financing deal to see if they will match the competitors price. That way you win on the financing and the price. Let us know what you chose.

Colonative - you are really on the roll tonight. I have two different HSBC Cards AX $10K CL and MC $7.5 CL. Both good APR no AF and great credit lines. We need to remember HSBC acquired Household Finance and other sub-prime companies a few years ago when they were in trouble. HSBC is a worldwide bank that really laid pretty low in the United States until just the last few years. I was pretty shy with them but, they have come through and stood with me after eight years of business! They require patience and love. Actually they have been better than the big four banks and have shown me more flexibility.
A roll for what? Everybody has their own opinions of banks. I have many times in this forum stated that I was not a fan of HSBC for the main reason that I do not like to do business with a foreign-owned bank. My opnion of them has no bearing on whether they were sub prime or not. Just like Capital One, HSBC has a mix of prime and sub prime cards. I am aware of that.

I'm pretty sure that this had to do with Chase converting Circuit City store cards to Best Buy store cards. Perhaps, Chase and Best Buy made an agreement where Best Buy would profit from the ex-Circuit City accounts only if Chase issues Best Buy cards so they can make a profit as well.
Oh yeah, sounds like a "if you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" sort of thing. I am not a fan of Chase myself, would almost rather have an HSBC issued Best Buy card.

Okay, so I called the 888 number that Kiejon provided and the rep that answered did confirm that Chase does back a few of Best Buy's US credit cards. They did not elaborate on how many or what type (Visa, store).
So my apologies to Kiejon. However, I do still stand by my replies; all info/links provided (expect the number) were for Canadian residents. This can serve as a reminder to all that post links to be sure that they are correct.

This is still very interesting because prior to 2002 Best Buy cards were either issued by GECCC (now called GEMB) or Household (now HSBC). In 2002 Best Buy decided that they only wanted one bank to issue their cards so they closed all GECCC Best Buy cards. So I wonder why they are going back to two....

You might want to give them a call to make sure that the offer was for US Citizens, it would be a waste of time to apply. IMO!

WOW...! This is interesting. After further review there is a place where you can "log in" either Chase or HSBC... What the ...? Very interesting. ColoNative, shades of MBNA America (now Bank of America) and MBNA Canada which is still themselves... Very curoius. I have learned that the "devil is in the details". Nice piece of works!
Yup MBNA Canada is still around, couldn't call it Bank of America in Canada right, still funny since MBNA stood for Maryland Bank National Association.
As far as the whole Chase Visa Best Buy card: whatevers, all info provided in the threads was for Canada. I also checked Best Buy's website and Chase's website (the US version, of course) and neither yielded a Best Buy Visa offer. It is possible that with the demise of Circuit City (Chase backed both their retail and Visa) that they wanted in on Best Buy for the prime customer. Good luck with that one.

All, if you look closely to what Kiejon posted, it is for Canadian consumers. The Best Buy Visa card is issued by JP Morgan Chase & Co. in CANADA. For all of us in the USA it (Rewards Zone MasterCard) is and always has been issued by HSBC.
I was under the impression that this site and its forum is for US consumers. And if Kiejon resides in the US as his profile states, I am confused and concerned that he is receiving offers for a Candian bankcard.
Okay now you want to get on me so network if you really want to know you can call this Phone ####888 871 4649 and this was given to me at the best buy were I stay and the best buy Mc is being backed by JP Morgan Chase also HSBC
