Well not a cc increase but another letter from a Bank I deal with, about my debit card, letter was "sorry but we no longer can give you any rewards for our debit cards". This was an account I have with 5/3 Bank. This just seems never ending for the last couple of years. Don't know if any one else has gotten anything like this, Chase, US Bank, and USAA have kept their rewards programs.
You can thank Senator Durbin (D)-IL for that one. Because of his amendment to the Dodd-Frank bill the interchange allowed for debit transactions will fall from a high of $0.44 per swipe to a new high of $0.12 per swipe. Add that missing $0.32 times all debit card customers and the banks/credit unions are going to be hurting. This is in addition to the losses the banks are suffering from the loss of NSF fees. Most ignorant Americans think the banks/credit unions deserve this but in the end it will hurt all of us. Free checking might go away (even with direct deposit or combined assets), some banks may stop issuing debit cards or start to charge for them etc. Chase reinstated their debit rewards after initially stopping it based on the thought that the Durbin Amendment was going to be postponed; however, the banks lost that and on 7/21 the Durbin Amendment is expceted to become live.
The idea behind this amendment is that swipe fees were impacting businesses and therefore they were passing the interchange fee on to consumers. By lowering the interchange the belief is that the merchants will pass those savings on to consumers (yeah right). This is just part of Durbin Amendment-it goes further such as having merchants use two debit processors (so like Cirrus and Plus instead of just one or the other-and banks with assets over $10 billion have to be processed differently than banks with assets under $10 billion). Its a mess and not what our country needs right now. Hurting the banks will only hurt the citizens. I wish the politicians would instead focus on how FAT Americans are and how our education system is failing and how we can't control our borders etc.

I wanted to let Wanderer personally know he was right, I needed to watch out applying for store cards, GE Money Bank taught me a hard lesson today, they closed my Gap Card, Wal-Mart Card, Sams, and Paypal buyer credit today! I mailed them fools my documents they asked for 2 weeks ago, for some reason they seem to think I was a victim of fraud! Well, they recieved my documents today, and agreed I was who I said I was, but oops, were sorry, your accounts will remain closed and please feel free ro re apply in 30 days! I DONT THINK SO! So Wanderer, when I opened my GAP card, and you told me to be cautious, I should have taken heed! Lesson learned! No more store cards! PERIOD!!!!
I hope you enjoy your regional bank card

I was totally shocked this morning!! i have had my hsbc best buy mastercard for almost a year now. limit at $300, but no annual fee was why i was keeping it. was thinking about closing it, but today when i went to my account online, the credit limit increase button was available again! i never expected it would ever be up again, but i asked for an increase, and they doubled my limit to $600!!!
Stingy hsbc finally gave me a decent limit increase
Congrats! HSBC has treated you well. However, not everyone has faired as well. Glad to know the "luv" button is back and you starting by using it. HSBC told me they would consider CL increases every six months. Maybe just maybe...?!

The strangest thing, I went online to make my GE Money payment to my Gap card, and I noticed they locked me out! UGH! So I called and spoke with "Peggy" from India
Well, I decided to see if they unlocked my online accounts with GE Money, and yup they sure did, and to my suprise I notice yesterday, they have closed all my accounts with them! So I call and speak with GAP credit services, and they tell me a letter has been sent out on all my GE Money accounts and I need to get ahold of their fraud department, and they say they still are waiting for my identification documents which I mailed out last Thursday! I HATE GE MONEY BANK!!!!!

That is kind of strange...have you made any changes to any of your accounts with them recently? That would stress me out since I am paranoid by nature :white-flag:Let us know what happens and what caused it when you find out.

This is a true saying. Although I have hit rock bottom, US Bank is still riding with me. They let me have $100 advance towards my checking account when my credit line was maxed out, but I had to pay it back in 2 weeks. When you can walk into a branch and a manager approves a request from you, your best bet is to stay with them for life. Bank of America would have called the feds on me
Yes US Bank is like a good friend, there when you need them and no one else is, also US Bank told me way ahead of time about upcoming ck account changes and ways to make the adjustment without incurring fees. I have my cc on auto pay with them and that is how I avoided any new ck fees.
