I did a regular credit card review on this card. Go check it out in the credit card reviews section of this site.

I think everyone hates me for this because no one has commented it yet.

The Review

I have been consolidating my credit cards lately and I have been closing cards that I don't need. My FICO score will take a hit but I am not applying for any loans right now so it doesn't really matter to me.

My thoughts on this card are that it is a GREAT rebuilder card because you don't get charged any monthly fees and you can get the annual fee waived by calling CS as some members have learned that already.

However, HSBC is a sub-prime bank and it will stay that way. They are stingy with CLI's and charge high interest rates, mines was 19.24%.

In conclusion, if you're looking for a card that is going to help you open doors to better cards, this is definitely a great choice while you earn points for cool stuff at Best Buy.

Have you called them and asked why? You remember that GEMB had an issue where they had some of our accounts leaked (or our personal info) and then they frozed our accounts until we called in to verify it. Did this happen to you?

Ive had the card since 08/2007... Started @ $125... YES MEYA! I also got a stinking $75 increase in 02/2008... The last time I requested a CLI was on 05/27/2008 and yes... I got denied because I needed 4 month pymt history... But now when I go to the website and go for that luv button... This is what I get

"We apologize for the inconvenience, but we cannot process a credit limit increase online for this account. Please call Customer Service 1-877-294-7880, 24 hours a day 7 days a week to discuss your request. "

IDK why... But I go in there at least once a week but it always says that...

Wait, Walmart is doing you like this? When was the last time you hit the love button online? I have $575 with them now but they gave me a funky $75 increase after 3 or 4 months and then a measly $100 after another 4 months. Your credit is better than mines, this is another reason why i say that creditors are holding back on their cli's on the wrong people.

Little do they know, they are upsetting the good payers. I sit back and listen to a lot of members here with nice credit who creditors will not budge when they ask for a cli. Take hjm331 and RivasGlo for example, look how hsbc is doing him, and RivasGlo (I am correct, right rivasglo). That is just flat out wrong and they both have nice teir1 cards.

You are correct Meya!!!!! My credit history is about a yr and half old but still... I have a few cards w/ decent limits... Ive been stuck at the same spot for ever... Not only HSBC but my Walmart sits at $200 :upset: !!!!! I wanted to come into the Hooters Family, I applied, but I regret it, I ended up with an AF of $36 and APR of like 25%... Cmon! What is that! :scared:

Seems like a lot of creditors are freezing on cli's lately.

Exactly for fear that if something happens to the person, they will be unable to pay.

You know hjm331, your right, time to put the brakes on for awhile.

You have fantastic limits and I will have to agree with HJM331 about just waiting it out for a couple of months up to a year

Shark6, GEMB doesn't pull a hard inquiry so it doesn't your score. I'd say you should ask for a CLI from them now and every 3-4 months.

How often should one apply for a Sam's CLI? I know that the current wisdom is every 3mths, however, I have only pressed the luv button 1 time in 2.5yrs and go increased by $200 last month.

I wonder if I should tempt faith this month seeing that I have paid that card down to 25% utilization.

Smcc, the points that you get with the Americard, are they WorldPoints or does the Americard have a different rewards program?
