Change of heart?

Well in 11/2008, GEMB decreased my CL on my Wal-mart card from $275 to $190. Today, I was bored and decided to ask for a CLI and it was granted for $75 making it $265. I was planning on closing this card but its kinda hard to since its been opened since 08/2007! Its my 4th oldest card!!!

This is the only card that has given me a CLD. I was able to recover some of it with some time but this card is useless to me so ill prolly still close it... I already have another GEMB card, the JCP card w/ a CL of $1500 and its not even a year old. Weird bank.

Good job, glad you got some of that CL back.

I guess I should be thankful for the $550 CL on my Lowe's card.

My experience with BOA is that they like granting increases every 6 months.

I asked BOA for a $5K increase to $50K and got the "letter in the mail" response. Like stinks when you hit the ceiling :upset: Now I have to go out and earn more money :upset: to be considered !

There you go HJM, its worth a try.... Whats the worst they can say, "no".

Well, I was at Macy's today and my 90 day billing cycle just closed yesterday, so while I was at the store, I decided to call them for a CLI. I was hoping that I would get something better than the 100 CLI they've been giving me since I got the card, but no luck. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she said "sorry but thats all we can do for you at this time. Try calling back in 90 days and see if you can get more." I guess based on the way things are now, the 100 CLI is better than nothing so I will have to try back in 90 days.....

June 2nd, we are all pulling for you. :cheesing:

I have a found a good reason to shoot at the Macy's CSR when asking for a CLI. If they ask me why I need another CLI, I will simply tell them that I deserve it.

If they don't like it, I will hang up and talk to another CSR.

Won't they offer to open a special purchase account for that?

I don't know how that works. I don't even know if they *offer* the major purchase account. I think they just give it to you when you use your Macy's to make a large purchase. The account number for major purchase is exactly the same as your normal Macy's card except for the last digit; and then once its paid in full it is closed out (almost like an installment).

It is kind of the same principle as their Visa. They give you only the Visa card, you use that at Macy's and it goes to a separate charge account-resulting in two tradelines on your bureau. Crazy if you ask me.

You have such a high limit anyway, you've got nothing to hide. I would just call them up ask them and if they ask just say "I'd like the CL to be an even amount." The worst they could do is say no right?

The same (if they don't send out a card). I am about to call them right now because I have spent well over the first level, so I should be on my second card right?

Yeah, everyone starts out at Red Star Rewards, and purchases made between Jan 1 through Dec 31 are counted towards the next level. I opened my account 9/1/07 and I was very proud of myself for getting upgraded to Gold Star Rewards ($500-$999 spend) after just 4 months. They usually send your new card (with expiration date) by the end of February. I actually just received my replacement Gold Star Rewards card this past weekend. It expires 9/2010 so I will roll with it.

You can call them if you don't get it soon and have them send one out to you. If you spent over $500 between 1/1/08 and 12/31/08.
