I applied for a Macy's card when I was in Atlanta on spring break and got approved on the spot. I had to call in and get my CL which was $800. I thought this was really low since all of my other cards have at least a 1k limit. How/when should I approach them with a CLI request?

My mother called Discover last night and requested a CLI of $1k through the automated system and she was denied.

Sorry to hear that bro, but I am pretty sure you explained to her about what is happening with credit right about now. I wish her all the luck in her future cli's.

Dang, look how you rate. Do you use the card often?

They have given me 0% APR rate on balances till May 2009. So I am making the minimum payments and letting the balance sit at 0% interest. About $3000 balance right now and I will pay it off before the introductory APR is expired. Last 3 months, I have used this card almost exclusively.

thanks. i should have made my comment slightly clearer. i was going to apply for citibank cards (assoc bank cashback + citi forward + premier pass (maybe)). i am looking forward to that luv button.

You will like Citibank. They don't have the best interest rates but they will do almost anything within reason to make you happy. I saw that new Forward card, it seems like a knock-off of the Discover Motiva. It is interesting that it is a Visa, with the exception of the student cards and the Hilton HHoners Signature, Citi stopped issuing Visa's to the general public back in 1999 (mostly they issue MasterCard).

Can't wait for your review of the card when you get it.

Yeah? I didn't even realize they had that option. So the VRU declined her? Nobody spoke with her?

I have not asked for a CLI from Discover since 2001, back then you had to speak to someone and it took 24 hours for a decision.

Congratulations. That is a nice increase. Remeber with Citi you can request the CLI from the account online.

Discover More Card increased my limit to $10,400 from $8000 two weeks ago. Had applied for the card in November 2008. Three months later I got a $2400 CLI.

I'm going to try to help my mother get a $1k increase on her Discover card this week so we can BT the balance from her AMEX to her Discover card at 3.99%.
