FICO CREDIT SCORE RANGE.....FYI

Good FICO Score

EXCELLENT 700 OR HIGHER, means Excellent or Very Good credit. Certain lenders offer better rates and/or discount if you are over 720, 740, etc.

GOOD 680 TO 699 means GOOD. Pretty much you can get a normal loan. Translating in layman terms you won't be robbed too bad.

OK 620 to 679 is OK. You won't be denied but the terms are not going to be too generous. Still you are officially a nice person]Low FICO Score

580 to 619 Banks, brokers love you. Want to know why? That is where bad credit starts. But it is not that bad yet. They are still able to get you a loan but on their terms. Fat commissions for them, much more expensive loan for you. Chances are you will take it since you have little choice. And you'll think they your best friends.

Bad FICO Score

500 to 580 is where the real trouble starts. Your credit is bad, period. You'll get your loan and you won't like it. But you should take it anyway, because that could be the beginning of your fresh start. Way to get away form bad credit.

400 and below...My friend , you are in serious need for help for bad credit.www.bad-credit-advisor.com/fico-credit-score.html

I have a AT&T collection item that was included in my BK years ago and pop up on my credit report 1 year ago..i'm in the process of sending them a letter to take if off if I pay the debt. This would add about 20 point to my score because its so recent.

I'm not 100% sure but I think this is illegal if this debt was included in your bk DO NOT pay it since is was included. I'm pretty sure this very thing was covered not too long ago on the myfico boards.I do think you can write the cb's and have that item corrected and removed by disputing that this was IIB, therefore cannot be re-reported. I would send the ca a letter stating this was included in your bk therefore they are not legally allowed to attempt to collect (this part I am 100% sure of) and that improper reporting on their part can results in fines of up to $1000 per violation. If nothing else a $1000 fine would be a nice early christmas present

Thanks for your info..I'm gonna call AT&T first ..and see why this happen...once I'll get all the info..trust me the letter will be sent to the CB's!

Yoyo11, thanks for the advice and I will am going to be a lot more diligent cleaning up my credit. I am going to focus more on what I have now and work with paying it down so that will mean no more apps until I do so.

I used to think that I would take years to clear up my credit situation but I now know with a little hard work on my part it can be done.

I know it might be a struggle, but remember..the outcome is rewarded. Your scores could change daily...as well as events in life..keep us posted on your progress and I bid you well.

]In Jan/08 my True Transunion Fico score was 502.

I'm sure you guys remembered how I cried when I saw this...well now as of 8/21/08 its.....643!!! I could not believe it!! My Experian is 644 and Equifax 607. The major jump is because my credit/debt ratio is getting better. Not as good as I want to be but considered good to FICO. I'm so happy...my new CapOne card did not show up yet but the inquiry did post. I'm made a promise to myself not to purchase any more Fico's until my birthday...in Dec. My goal is 660 i'll keep ya all posted!
Now this is fantastic news. I'm very happy for you!

Yoyo11, wow, that is great news and you are truly an inspiration (I really mean that). I am trying very hard to get my utilization down but its not easy. Do you have some suggestions or tips that worked for you to help you build up your scores.

Again, congrats.

Meya and Rwmtd, thanks for your response. RWMTD..I have a BK, and (2) judgements that were included in my BK and old collections items on my report.

As Meya said on other post...let some of them just fall off...Last year I disputed a collection item to the CB 1 month before the 7 year mark and they did take if off.

Remember FICO has a secret formula that let those w/bad credit rebuild their credit.

So..in time..collections will not have an affect on your score..judgements..and BK's and inquires won't have an affect. Example..I have an collection item 5 years old on my report..it does not matter if the CB take if off , or i pay it off...it won 't make any changes on my credit score because its so old and not factoring in my score. It's on your report , but not calulated or factored because of aging.

35% is payment history and debt/credit ratios. I know people frown on 1st Premier and other subprime cards, but with a score below 500 what could I do? Now I have two years reporting because of this subprime card.

Even though I got new cards, I started to lower my balances. I did notice -10 to -15 off my score when a new card was opened..but it jumped back up within 1 -2 months.

When that rebate check and tax returns came in ..I started to pay.

Someone I know has a 502 score , same as I had 8 months ago..but since she doesn't have a BK or judgements..she might get approved for loans that I wont because of my BK and judgements.

Fico is somewhat weird at times..but go to their site www.fico.com and theres a link about 20 pages..on what is your score..and all info that goes in it.

I worked on what I had......payment , payment ..payment history..i had none...so thats what I worked on.

Some people have the payment history but maxed out on cards...gotta get those balances down.

I used to pay the min on a card. 1st Premier is $20. out of that $6 go the the maintance fee and what ever interest is charged, lets say $1. Out of that $20..only $14 is going towards your balance. What I did was pay $26.50..that lowered by balance. Same with other cards..Target has a min of pymt of $10...I'll just paid off the balance in two months.

My brother told me to pay off the small balance off first then go to the larger balances...this might help you.

After working on my credit...in 06 I only had two cards $250 limits. Now my total CL is $5,100.00. with $3600 has ava credit. CLI helps. I plan to keep making payments over the min until Jan..and pay what ever left income tax time. By then..my goal of 660 with be here!!! **however..I won't apply for new credit, and won't use my CC.

I have a AT&T collection item that was included in my BK years ago and pop up on my credit report 1 year ago..i'm in the process of sending them a letter to take if off if I pay the debt. This would add about 20 point to my score because its so recent.

Hopes this helps ...keep me posted.

You are smart Gal! if everybody starts following this then we wont be needing any credit card consolidation, or any other thing. this is the only way by which we can keep the credit card companies on track and take the most advantage of them. though it is a negative thing but i enjoyed yourpost completely

Hey all,
Which is better? Do it yourself credit repair, or going with a company (like Lexington)? Anyone have any experience with them or another reputable company? I was referred to a "local" company by a mortgage broker. The local company charges $495 up front, but they claim to get your scores up to 720 or better. The money up front part sounded a little suspect to me. Any suggestions? Thanks, all.

Hi theo11, at the suggestion of a coworker she suggested I try Lexington (she actually had tried them). So I did and their service was horrible. They disputed items that were legitimate and sent in these poorly worded letters to the CB's (one of the letter was actually returned to me!!). Also beware of any company that tells you that they can "fix" your credit because they can't.

Like Yoyo11 said keep your money and get copies of all of your reports and look for any mistakes and you can write letters yourself (I think I've seen some examples on this site).:white-flag:
