I think YoYo had to wait that long. And yes you are correct, they do not try to offer cli's across the phone. But, wildrage received on from them. I wonder if it was a new rep who did not know all the ends and outs about Hooter's....lol.
Regardless, when I've called Barclays or BOA, I did not receive the rudeness I got from Merricks' reps. Based on my own personal experience, and what I've read, that stuff seems to be the norm. I don't need they crappy card anymore, so I'm not (that) afraid of closing them. Really I had gotten them because it was the card I couldn't have....you know how that goes....LOL. It literally has served it's purpose now.

CG101, how long have you had Hooter's? I would not say close it because of the review, because there are a lot of others here who waited darn near over a year for a cli from them.
We're going on a year now. It will be a full year in July...but still, if nothing else, I am closing due to the AF.

Where did you here this??? I am confused, how does this work?
It happened to me. Actually for me it wasn't 10%, more like over 25%. I bought a washer and dryer and had the cash, but wanted to earn rewards, so I put it on the card. $1550 (I had other stuff too) off a $4k limit shows up on my report WAYYY before it's supposed to (usually, it reports to the bureaus a day or so after my statement).
So I didn't hear about it, it had actually happened to me!

The banned guy was right though about BOA. They will report you if you exceed 10% of your limit (which is crap). I think if done right though, that might actually help a FICO score out. (which in my case, definitely did).

Are the good credit members still around
I skimmed through this thread and found it interesting. I myself was in your situation (except the medical, and for those "unpaid" emergency room visits that propped up on mine, I just disputed those away). I actually used the first credit card I got to make an unpaid (at the time before I allowed myself to get garnished) cash advance to pay for a fake ID. Abuse of credit and defaulting is an understatement. Now I gots me decent credit. No subprime here, save for Hooters who treat me very subprime and I can't even get those people to give me an account review, which is why I will close them. I cashed out my rewards and got two nice mugs out of them. The magazine...well, wifey makes sure I see it once and then it goes in the trash. LOL
What burns me though is that I can't know what my Experian score is without getting an INQ (my Fico, anyway).
I have a bunch of low limit retail and gas cards except of course for Macys (and Bloomies). I went from $100 originally to $2200 and will still call at the end of the month for one. I will keep them and use them every now and then so that they don't close on me. The banned guy was right though about BOA. They will report you if you exceed 10% of your limit (which is crap). I think if done right though, that might actually help a FICO score out. (which in my case, definitely did).

Replied by Attagirl on topic The main problem is, well
The main problem is, well I never had BofA cards. All my cards where MBNA cards and about a year ago BofA purchased MBNA and converted all my cards to BofA Platinum Plus cards. When the accounts where MBNA they where great. The credit lines are the same but the great offers that MBNA had are all gone now. I am not going to close the Platinum Plus cards, its just that Signature Visa that I find hard to swallow. My FIRST UNION and my Suntrust cards where taken over by BofA as well. I went from having NO BofA cards to having 4 platinum cards with them overnight. The signature Visa card I took as a pre approved offer. I actually find that card UNUSEABLE unless you want to destroy your credit rating.
What I think is crazy is that one company comes in and purchases the other and then does not bother to ask you if you want to continue with the new company they just assume you want them. Then if they buy several as mentioned above you end up with four platinum with one company, now who is their right mind would need this. I think they should at least ask you if you want to combine the credit of two of them together into one card. I would never get the signature card as I have heard so many bad things.
