I just received an email confirming the points conversion on my card so cash back reward cards choices are becoming very limited but hey changes are inevitable especially in this credit environment.Discovershop is my best friend too which I am getting as much as 20% on some stores they offer.

For 20%, I will send you my needs and you can order for me! Way to go!

Not only Chase but all the big banks are watering down their rewards cards to make-up for lost profits.

Isn't that the truth.

Today I received an email from Chase changing the reward structure on the freedom card, looks like they are eliminating the cash back option to just all points but you can still earn cashback on the quarterly categories. I am going to request my check immediately and see what further changes are in store.

This has been going on for a couple years now at least. If they switched you over to points and you get a letter about the categories about the cash back, it will be converted to points. I don't use my Freedom that much because the rewards on that card just simply suck now since they have pretty much messed with the reward structure. It seems like Freedom card is Chase's most popular card. The Sapphire card is new and right now seems to be the current favorite but like I said, it's a new card.

I've been getting those also! Keybank is also offering $100 or an iPod Touch (valued at $200). Keybank is ranked very high in customer satisfaction right now. Tempting... I'll stick with my credit union

Chase keeps sending me these flyer things about getting $100 if I open a checking account with them. I have a checking account with them and 2 credit cards with them. The debit card I have with them is the Leisure Rewards and it's $25 per year. A few days ago, I did get an e-mail from them stating that my debit card rewards will be converted to the Ultimate Rewards program. I believe that my Freedom card is that. Wonder if they will let me combine those reward points. Cause I want to get the Gap gift card.

joeyman - :cc: I do have a credit card from my local bank. It is a Gold Visa with Rewards and a $10K CL. Interest is at 6.9% cash and purchases fixed rate. Also, I have credit cards off of my military bank with $8K CL and 10.9% variable. I have a mix of local and big banks. As an aside, my best credit cards come from my local and special banks. Not the big boys.

The world of credit never ceases to amaze me. I started out in the sub-prime world with Providian Bank and was lucky to be sold to Washington Mutual Savings Bank where I was able to grow my account. Then in comes Chase who really only wants the banking branches of WAMU.

Yeah, not bad for someone with a BK within eight years at all. I'd still rather have a local bank or credit union over Chase though. :fun:

Fast fact: Foreclosures take seven years to go off your credit report; drop you scores 200-300 points; and some individuals are able to get mortgage within five years. In turn, it's better than a BK. I wonder which one is more common nowadays?

Those of us at WAMU as cardholders were viewed as sub-prime unwanteds. In March 2010 Chase lowered my credit lines. I let it sit, got mad and had two "fireside" chats with Chase. Chase restored my credit lines and as of today May 23, 2010 they have added balance transfer options to my accounts. WOW, and they work. I did not think that would ever happen!

Maybe there is hope for those of us brought over from the sub-prime world! YES! My Chase Flexible Rewards Card has a $13.5K CL with 12.24% APY and no AF. My Chase Freedom Rewards "INK" Business Card has a $10K CL with 12.24% APY and no AF and the Blueprint options. Not bad for someone with an eight year old BK on the record (Chase doesn't do BK's). :white-flag:

As to my Chase Rewards Freedom Card, they (Chase) keeps track of my points and I log in and decide what I want and order it on the website including "cash" checks. I collected over $300 from Chase in 2009. :moneybag: Got'ta love it! :piggy:

Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Citi? makes you pay your credit card bill from your related checking account. They do NOT allow for outside bank payments...! Heads up. I have a Wells Fargo checking and they would allow me to do the automatic monthly payment from another bank (if you used this option) but NOT any other payments. Closed the credit card account last month. I will decide how I want to pay. Also, unless there is some incentive, think about a bank that will actually offer you something. The big boy banks captured everything I had and gave me little back. I changed insurances, investments, checking and the like to someone that actually gave me something like interest on my savings and CD's. :calculator: Food for thought. There are no extras in the market because you bank with the big boys. Ask me I know! :dumbfounded: Today I bank with a fourteen bank regional system and I earn 1.52% on checking and 2.02% on savings. Hmm...
