Self Employment in 2015: Why Now is the Time

Have you come to the conclusion that you want to work for yourself at some point in the future? Like many, this may be something you have been dreaming of for quite some time.

Rather than put this off any longer, the new year is a great time to consider what the future holds. You may not take the leap into self employment on the first day of 2015, but it could be the right time to finally look into the finer details of making a change.

Here are three reasons why now is the time to make a change:

1. The new year is the right time for a fresh start. Sometimes, all it takes is a blank slate to realize that you are in position to do big things. What better way to start fresh than by doing so on the first day of 2015?

2. A better future. There are pros and cons of being self employed, but you will never be able to realize a better future unless you take the risk and see what is out there. If you do your legwork upfront and feel good about the plan you have in place, you may be surprised at how quickly you find yourself on the path to success.

3. Control of your life. As nice as it may be to have the security of a corporate job, you also realize that you have to answer to others. If you move into the wonderful world of self employment, you are ready to take back the control you have given up over the years. You are so close to the freedom that you should be able to taste it. You just need to go one more step to truly realize that this could be right for you.

Questions to Answer

If you are on the fence, here are some questions that can help you make a final decision:
  • Are you okay with the fact that it will take time to get your business off the ground?
  • Are the risks associated with self employment something you are willing to take on?
  • Do you have a business plan in place that will improve your chance of success?
The answers to these types of questions will go a long way in helping you formulate a plan for the future.

Whether or not you jump into self employment in 2015 is your decision. If you decide that the time is now, you won’t be alone.
