Negotiate the Price of a New Car Without the Hassle

Negotiate the Price of a New Car Without the Hassle

The thought of buying a new car is exciting, until you realize you have to negotiate with a pushy salesperson. At that point, you begin to wonder what you were thinking. Would you be better off with your old vehicle?

If you are interested in buying a new car, if you don’t want to go through the hassles of negotiation, here are a few things you can do:

1. Start online. Use the internet to not only find the right vehicle at the right dealer, but to also learn what other consumers are paying. This gives you a leg up on the dealer and salesperson, putting you in position to make reasonable demands.

2. Be clear that you are not going to negotiate. There is nothing wrong with going into the process, being honest and reasonable with your first offer, and letting the dealer “take it or leave it.” When you do this, you never have to worry about the hassles of negotiating.

3. Give the salesperson one chance. Ask this question: can you provide me with your absolute best price right now? Along with this, make it clear that you are only giving the person one chance to provide this number. As long as you have done your homework, you will know if the number is worth your consideration.

You don’t have to ruin the new car buying experience with many hours of negotiating. Instead, you can use these three tips to put yourself on the right track from the start.

What other advice do you have for a consumer in the market for a new car? Do you have any other tips for avoiding stressful negotiations?

Online is the best place to go. Most of those prices are the most competitive price they can offer and there is little wiggle room to negotiate which helps with the process. Make sure you do as much online research as you can before you enter into a dealership.
