Credit Card Security Advice for Online Shoppers

Credit Card Security Advice for Online Shoppers

Shopping online is more common than ever before. Not only is it convenient, but it also allows you to save money.

Unfortunately, there are some downsides of shopping online, one of which is security.

As an online shopper, there are several credit card security tips you must follow:

1. Only buy from sites you trust. If you have any reason to not trust an online store, stay away from it until you learn more. Sharing your credit card information could  be a big mistake.

2. Avoid one click checkout. Some stores will ask if you want to store your credit card number for future use. As convenient as this sounds, it’s probably a bad idea. Even if it’s a reputable online store, you are better off avoiding this. It’s better to give up the convenience of one click purchases than to take a security risk.

3. Don’t make a purchase on a public computer. This isn’t something most people do, but it’s still a tip to keep in mind. For example, don’t use a computer at a local library to make a purchase with your credit card. Your credit card information could be stored, allowing the next user to access it for all the wrong reasons.

Online shopping has a lot to offer, so this isn’t something you should ignore. However, make sure you realize the security risks associated with this. By taking the right approach, you can prevent trouble as to better enjoy your shopping experience.

The biggest backstop to this is, you are not ultimately responsible for fraudulent credit card charges, the credit card company is. When I see one, I call the credit card company immediately to resolve.
