3 Questions to Ask Your Credit Card Company Today
When was the last time you reached out to your credit card company to ask a specific question? Were you happy with the answer, or left wanting more?
There’s no reason to regularly contact your credit card company, but there are definitely times when it makes sense to do so. Here are three questions you should ask today:
• Is there any way to secure a lower interest rate? This is of particular importance if you carry a balance from month to month. Rather than pay a high rate of interest, contact your credit card company to see if there’s an alternative. Depending on your credit, they may be willing to reduce your rate to keep you happy.
• Do I qualify for a better rewards program? Just because you’re part of a rewards program doesn’t mean it’s as good as it gets. It’s possible you may qualify for a better program, which makes you feel more confident when using your card. For example, a better program is one that allows you to earn more points for the money you spend and/or redeem them for additional items.
• Can you waive a fee for me? If you’re hit with any type of fee – such as an annual fee or late fee – contact your credit card company to discuss your situation. If you’ve never asked them to waive a fee in the past, they may agree to your request.
You should never assume that your credit card company will say no. Instead, speak your mind by asking any questions that are important to you.
Tip: you may need to speak with more than one person to receive the answer you’re looking for. Don’t’ hesitate to ask for a supervisor or manager, as these are the people who often have the power to say “yes.”
