Who are you telling! From all the things I've heard about Discover, I believe it's worth the wait.

Just a FYI]http://www.discovercard.com/motiva/rates.html[/URL]
I think the discover more is the needs improvement card. Anyway for
some reason if they say no and they decline you they will most likely
counter offer with the HSBC discover and give you the terms on the
spot. Then if you wait 5 minutes or so you can call the number
posted by rivasglo under card reviews here and they will tell you the
credit limit.
Now if you already have a HSBC discover and down the line
you still want to try again for a discover and they decline you
and offer the direct rewards discover again, if you get approved
wait 1 or 2 days and call customer service and tell them
you want to combine the two cards into one credit line. This works
even if you app'd months apart. If the terms aren't exactly the
same as the first card you can pick the card with the best terms.
For Example no annual fee and low interest. The conversion
will take just about two weeks. Thats what I did and ended up
with 1500 CL. This has also been done by others...
Ahh, it's so tempting to see if Discovercard completely blacklisted me or not. I won't apply today, but I might in 6 months...

Man, they will not let me get a direct rewards no matter how hard i tired. When I go through HSBC site, I cant get passed the Orchard Cards, when I go through Discover Original Site all I get is the 30 day delay with a long application number (I am in a credit rehab club, so no I did not apply lately) . I just applied for my sister and she received the direct reward discover with no problem. Well I guess that they do not like me...
Meya...you dont want this card...especially when your in the 700's...DISCOVER Discover should be giving you a card. Had this card for almost a year and I still have a $1k limit. CLI's suck...but it is HSBC so I guess I should expect it.

It was posted back in Feb that discover may be trying
to get some subprime accounts. Some people started getting
approved with scores in the low six's and their reports were not
squeeky clean. I don't know the formula or exact lowest score
so I'm not going there. Anything outside their criteria was sent
to HSBC with no additional hard pull.
When you apply for a regular discover card, they ask you questions
about your credit profile. Great, fair or needs improvement.

So I read with HSBC what they like to see is min. usage and PIF. So I pay for my Netflix with them, and PIF every month. I'm going to ride out this first year, and see how much they increase my credit.

I dont know Meya, I mean is there such a thing as a random credit grantor? I mean my sister (forgive me if she reads this) has the worst credit, a defaulted car loan, frozen bank account, utility companies collections, 2 judgements and unpaid credit cards all in the last three to five years. They are all still on her credit report. Her scores are so low she wont even tell me. She said her score is not even on the charts. I mean how bad do your scores have to be, to not be in the score range numbers. BUT for some UNGODLY reason she was approved for a Direct Merchants Platinum Visa with a limit of $1800. How is that possible? I didnt believe her until I saw it with my own eyes. There has to be some kind of system they use to grant credit, maybe a quota of some sort for people with bad credit. Like for every 100 applicants approved with good credit, 5 of them have to have terrible credit, what do you think?
LMAO
This sounds soooo true...I do think there is something like this

OK, I go spend $100 on it, then quess what? It shows on all 3 of my credit reports as MAXED out , they only report what you owe out for the month as maximum credit.
Bank of Mafia is in business to s***w you out of every dime you have. WHY? ok, lets see, hmmm, Lets give a card to a guy with a top fico score with no spending limit at 3.9%, lets then hope he spends $50,000 on it so we can report him as maxed out to the credit bureaus. Now the poor sap cant pay it back in just one month, OH MY, he is maxed out at TU, EX and EQ so his FICO just went down to 710, lets raise the poor saps rate to 30%
LEGALIZED mafia is all they are. Sorry Eric heheheh, not directed at you
Who says the mafia is gone? dont be surprised if BofMafia threatens to break your legs if you opt out of the 30% interest rate :
And I am NOT saying they are better then any other bank. Chase, Citibank all try to do the same thing. When I was 20 years old they had a maximum any bank could charge you by law and it was 19.9% . Banks have alot of clout in Wash DC, so they had that law overturned.
The banks then went back to Washington and had the bankruptcy law changed to what it is today so you can not file and have your debt discharged anymore. MBNA who is now BofMafia paid 9 BILLION dollars to politicians to get the new bankruptcy laws changed to what they are today. Try to tell me that they are NOT the mafia, I am convinced that they are.
