I didn't know that you could do that with your credit card to increase your limit. I definitely wouldn't play around with all the credit cards and transfer all the balances.

YES this is true...its called account consolidations... we can move a CL from one account to another...alot of people do it for security purposes or to do a huge balance transfer... security wise some people may have 2 or 3 cards with us and take $10k off of there $15 k account and use that card for everyday purposes. I moved $3k of my CL on my NFL visa over to my OSU Alumni mastercard keeping me with $500 on my visa that I use for my monthly gas and food at work and PIF every month, and now I have a $7k Mastercard that I have $4k worth of BT's (balance transfers) on ONLY at 0% until Feb of 2009...its also excellent when you want to use your card for a BT at a promo rate but you also want to use it for small purchases. The reason you do that is because if you have a BT at 0% and you have a APR on purchases at 9.9%, your payments are automatically allocated to lower apr's before higher aprs...so in essence when you pay...your paying your 0% BT before you even start paying into a purchase- while accruing interest evvery month on the purchases. So thats some of the reasons we do the CL consolidations on our accounts at BofA...hope this helps Eric

smcc, it all depends on how far this goes and how it effects all of the other banks. At the end of the day, it's all competition and if Citi sees that they are losing customers to BofA for this reason, then they will start doing the same thing or even come up with a greater concept to win their customers back and even some of BofA's customers.

I think that it's a good idea to have a lot of available credit on the card that has more benefits such as lower interest rate, higher rewards, no AF.

I've always admired how Bank of America takes care of its customers as opposed to it's competitors.
