They are not joke. I am glad that I am the woman, I get to keep my ends even though kids are digging all up in it. Bofa....nah I am not going to blame Bofa because they couldn't have done anything about it, but I think that is messed up that the check he was cashing already had child support taken out of it, then all he did was went to the barber shop, purchased some beers (on cash) and went home. The next few days he went to go and get some money out, and wallah, the cs rep explained what happened to him. The letter came a few days later....lmao! Let me keep it real, I wasn't laughing when it happened, I was thinking about pulling a Madea move on the system, but hey, what could I do, Nothing!I don't have kids (that I know of), but I can definitely relate to that as a guy.

I have seen thatfor some guys in CA and AZ that the State's will report it to the bureaus as a trade line. It reports as California Family Support.

Of course I did that on purpose; I spell American, and I pronounce my Z like a Z, not zed...
No, I have a lot of Canadian friends from college. Montreal is a beautiful place and Toronto is just like New York City, except clean. The ghettos look like a typical American suburb. I was only poking fun, man...sarcasm doesn't translate well when you're typing...but good eye on the neighbor though.
yeah my parents went to Montreal one year and my mom said it was beautiful except for the fact that people smoked-a lot. To be honest, Canada is a lot like home. Some European influences (especially Quebec) and some American.
But back to the topic...I read again in my CIT that the increase to $8.95 only applied if you were already paying $5.95. Meya, did your husband pay $5.95 already?

Not really making fun of Canadians at all. And did you spell neighbour like that on purpose or are you Canadian?
I do find it funny that in South Park, Canadians all have that split head that bobbles up and down when they talk. Honestly, I have nothing against Canadians, just thought I would make a joke about the TD Bank. I will say though that I wont do business with forgeign banks myself. Just a preference.

Went into the bank and was told if you have Direct Deposit already, it is not going to affect you. She did not state an amount, just told me I was in the clear. But, my husband's account is going to $8.95 in June, and he has "my access checking."
Hmmmm, they are smoking crack if they think people will pay $8.95 from a big bank like that. Imagine all those customers in California that have BofA, I am sure Wells and US Bank will be gaining quite a few new customers. If they try charging me a fee I will close my account. I don't even use it as my main checking account....

He will never do a direct deposit due to arrears. They cleaned his account out for child support a few years ago, and they were taking it out of his check. The only reason he leaves that account there for is to cash his check.

Natives from Colorodo (like the folks in South Park) must have a thing for making fun of our neighbours to the North. LOL.
(Then again, I would imagine everyone else in the Union does also...

Oh no doubt and I'm sorry for that (on the real). I don't have kids (that I know of), but I can definitely relate to that as a guy. Still, 8.95 is too much money. If loot isn't that hard up, he may want to look into other avenues.

I know there are CUs/other banks that will rebate you whatever fees, but it just seems like a process to get it and even then you have to wait....too much of a headache, and I just don't have the time or inclination to deal with it.

Can he get direct deposit? $8.95 for a checking account is too much. Even folks in the hood don't pay that much in check cashing places (actually, they pay more, but you see my point).
I myself used to care about going to the bank it was drawn on and cashing it. It may not be so bad for you to just deposit whatever checks you get and just waiting it out. It ain't taking that long anymore thanks to Check 21. Checks are almost like cash. (Though with a particular tenant, I have to treat him like the scumbag he is and get cash only from him....I love him though [one of my best friends, he's just my tenant by circumstance], but I wouldn't take a money order from him, and that's as good as cash....LOL).
Still though, I would hate for your family to be stuck with a monthly fee just because you want to bank there. As much as I like BOA, if they're going to do that to you (or me, but I have DD so it aint happening), you gotta bounce. $8.95 month don't sound like a lot. But if I told you you had to give me $107.40 a year to bank, you wouldn't find that cute, right? LOL. (I would hope not).
