Replied by Craig on topic Well, if I am using
Well, if I am using my new Capitalone card and making the scheduled payments on time, why would they close the account? Maybe I should keep a balance so they can make a little money off of me. I will give them a call next week and report back to you about a game plan. My credit report is ugly, Meya. UGLY. There is a lot more I have to share with the board. But one step at a time. This is not going to be fixed for a long time. Thanks again for your advice and support.
If Capital One has already issued you a new credit account then they will not cancel your new one unless you default. Capital One has already written off the "old" account as a loss and sold it (probably at about half it's former value) to whatever collection agency owns it now. Your mention of "keep(ing) a balance" has no relevance on the issue. If you have not already called them regarding the previously written off account then I would advise you not bring it to their attention unless you are calling to make arrangements to pay it off. What would be the point?

I am assuming that if you do not pay your old account, that they would close your new account. When they close your new account, your credit report would say that it was closed by them, which does not look good on your credit report either. That is why I was assuming that you would probably want to make out a min payment plan to pay the old one off.

Replied by Meya on topic I have the PremierExpert credit
I have the PremierExpert credit monitoring service that only gives me my Experian file.
I don't think that is a good credit monitoring service, try:
www.mycreditkeeper.com
www.truecredit.com
They will give you all 3 cra's. As far as Capital one and the settlement, you might as well go ahead and settle with them. No need to have thier old charge off and a new "Account Closed by Creditor " on your account. You are truely in a hard situation. Seems like just when you think everything was going well.....BAAM.....right in the smacker!
