Should I wait a few months before requesting an increase or should I go for it?
I say go for it. You have nothing to loose. You might just end up with a cli. Make sure that for future reference you keep your utilization down as quickly as possible and make sure that you dont go over the limit. You do not want the universal default rates to kick in. If I have never sent you this link, please read it.

Here is the catch. I was pulled hard once and that was by "Spirit of America". I beleive they did a hard pull becasue they bought our cards from GEMB and did not have a updated report for their records. Now, ususally ccc's do soft pulls when you ask for cli's and half of the time I think they are full of crap when they say they are going to do it. What really matter's to them is:
1. Payment hisotry
2. Shopping history
3. No derogs (some check to see if you deroged with another ccc)
4. Distance from the last cli
Other than that, you have nothing to worry about. We have an article on this, here it is:

Hope this helps!

P.S. When is a good time to request a CLI? I mean in terms of length of time you have had the card and other factors like on-time payment history, utilization, and over-the limit, etc... I have a lot of cards that are either new with good payment history, but with high utilization and then I have other cards that I pay on time, but they always have over the limit fees. Should I wait a few months before requesting an increase or should I go for it?

I guess my question was if I request the CLI, does that look like a hard inquiry because they have to pull my CR versus if the CC companies just automatically give you an increase? Or do they not have to pull the CR at all?

This is fine! You dont have to move it.
CLI's increases your scores. If you have not requested any, go for it. For every cli you get, report it to this thread called[/b][/u][/i] "Report Your Limit Increaes Here"[/b][/u][/i]

By all means, get on the ball with the cli's and keep a list of the dates you requested them, along with the limits and how often you can ask for one. I use a sticky note behind my index cards so that I will know when time is up for another one.
